Jamel Watkins is one of the most personable and versatile emcees to host an event, bringing personality and energy to the mic while creating a personalized experience for each event and client. His years of experience in the entertainment industry, as not only an owner and emcee, but starting off as a dancer and working his way up, makes him the perfect host for a broad range of events and clientele. He strives for greatness and puts all his energy and creative resources in ensuring each client’s vision for their event comes to life and they walk away with memories that last a lifetime.

As a Brooklyn, New York native, Jamel has been immersed in the hip-hop and house dance culture since his teen years. One day by chance, Jamel auditioned for a role as a dancer for a company and he was hired on the spot. It was this opportunity that showed him his passion and love for the industry

. His dance style can be described as natural, hype and energy provoking. It is that natural, hype energy that the clients and their guests feed off at each event he hosts. He has a keen sense in reading the energy of the room and brings the guests exactly what they are looking for in entertainment. As a performer, once it was determined that Jamel could get a crowd rowdy, he was handed a mic and his days of emceeing began.

After spending over five-years as a dancer himself, Jamel began training other dancers, teaching them and coaching them in the skills that brings a crowd to their feet. He not only taught by example, but he also provided a dance training manual he helped to design and create. To this day, Jamel picks the crème of the crop when it comes to the entertainers that perform and share in the NJM Entertainment experience.

This is why you will often here Jamel holler from the mic, “You are now rocking with the best!” Jamel puts a lot of pride in his team and focuses on relationship and team building with them. This contributes to allowing them to provide you with the best and most unique experience. Without a doubt Jamel believes his dynamic team is what determines that the “THE PARTY STOPS HERE!”

So, who is Jamel when he is not on the mic or ripping up the dance floor entertaining a crowd? He is a family guy and enjoys a lowkey relaxing lifestyle with his loved ones. He takes great pride in being a father and family man. He also enjoys riding his bike, and he can often be found spending time supporting his local community and engaging in local events that build a sense of community. He loves basketball, plays basketball and coaches basketball…..was it mentioned that he LOVES basketball?

Stephanie Watkins

Stephanie Watkins CFO/Event Coordinator/Project Management

Stephanie Watkins is the wife and business partner to Jamel. In addition to her full-time career as a paralegal, Stephanie enjoys being part of the event and project management team because she can unleash her creative side. Her passion for people and events is intricate in ensuring the clients are satisfied and happy with the overall set-up and outcome of the event.

Stephanie comes to NJM Entertainment with a wide variety of skillsets in organizational management, creative design and imagination as well as in concept design – with her keen eye for small details, this makes her our inhouse expert for all things creative. Stephanie will execute your ideas and concepts with ease ensuring a pleasant and amazing experience for you and your guests. In addition to her creative side, Stephanie is great with identifying perfect personalities that identifies with NJM’s culture when recruiting new talent for the entertainment team.

When Stephanie is not on set ensuring you and you guests are having the most memorable experience, she can be found spending time with her family who are the joy of her life. Stephanie loves to cook and bake. Additionally, she loves football and basketball and takes great pride in supporting her local community.

Katherine Nelson

Katherine Nelson Event Coordinator / Project Manager

Katherine is passionate about and committed to helping clients achieve the events of their dreams. Working side-by-side with Stephanie, Katherine has leveraged her ten years of event planning and catering experience to ensure every NJM client has a unique and creative experience – this has allowed her to wear many hats. She specializes in personalizing diverse events with her signature design and logistical talent in event timing and flow.

Katherine’s extensive background in banquet and social events has allowed her to master the skills of multitasking, event time management as well as efficiency and satisfaction as our clientele’s top priority. As a veteran in the service industry, Katherine knows and understands the importance of the fine details and the strength in connecting the clients to the ambiance and overall feel going into the day of their special event. She does this flawlessly with grace and a smile on her face.
